A Soul In Shreds

A man stands at the doorway and watches quietly as his girlfriend walks out. She should be back soon; he waits on the couch and feels empty. His soul is shredded and he doesn't even realize it. The man looks forward to the sweet reprieve of making love again when she gets home. 'A balm to his spirit' he thinks...

A man walks out the door of the Whorehouse. His soul in taters as he grins up at the sky and then back at the avenue as he slowly meanders away. Not even realizing the damage done, the tears in his very being, and the very basis of who he is...

A woman sits at the table weeping, a bible lies open before her and tears fall upon its open pages. Her heart feels as if it's breaking, but her tears are for joy at the healing touch of her maker. Her soul lights up within her with strength and love. She weeps for sadness as of one who is separated from a lover. But with the joy of someone who has the perfect lover...

Eric And Carrie's Wedding Website

Eric and I met when we were 10 or 11… We met at a vacation bible school in our church at the time. We didn’t think to highly of each other for some reason and so we didn’t hit it off to well. Soon afterwards we started to hang out and skate. We found out the fun of getting in trouble and things seemed to take off from there

One very notable memory of my friendship with Eric was the time that we found out about the accidental double Dr. Pepper Discount at Giant Eagle. We drove around to just about every Giant Eagle Grocery Store within an 80 mile radius and bought out all of their Dr. Pepper 2-liters… for 4 cents each. I remember how the 2-liter bottles looked as they lined up around his kitchen walls. I think Eric still has some of them around somewhere…

I remember when Eric and Carrie first began dating. And I remember catching them stealing a first Kiss! You guys sure caught a lot of flak for that one eh? It’s awesome to see where your relationship with each other has come from when we were all so young, and where it’s at today. God’s going to bless you two.

One fact that you may not have known about Eric is that he used to be terrified by thunder storms. A fact that I held mercilessly against him. To his credit however, He now claims that “He loves thunderstorms.”

Random Factoid about myself:
At one time I was unanimously, though falsely, called #1 by our group of friends... Thanks a lot Jerks…

The Plan!!

Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says "I love New York" in Arabic.

Robin Williams' plan...

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past &present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

Uncomfortable Before Your Gaze

I walk
Naked and uncomfortable
Before your gaze
All seeing
I beleive my soul will burn
If I do not change,
And yet I stay
And I fallTo my knees
No longer even able
To stand before your grace
Because of my disgrace
A memory
As I attempt
To glorify you
With my unholy lips
Burn away my flesh
And bring me fresh
Back to you again

20 Question Method?

Tears of a clown, originally uploaded by john©.

A way to constantly improve yourself according to Brian Tracy in The Psychology Of Selling
Find one thing that needs to be improved each day. Phrase that one thing as a question and then sit down until you think of 20 ways that you could fix that problem or at least improve upon it. And then pick one of those 20 ideas and implement it during that day. The trick will be in forcing yourself to sit there until you think of 20 different things. The first things normally flow easily but it gets harder. You will see a dramatic difference in yourself after only 30 days of doing this. Your processes will improve so drastically that people will begin to take notice of the way you do things and begin to copy you themselves.
It will be difficult to stay consistent… but keep at it!

Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Legacy

We had a great time at the marriage seminar this weekend. We picked up a lot of cool ideas, nothing ground breaking. But there was a lot of information that kind of pricked us into thinking about habits we’ve made that aren’t necessarily the best. One of the biggest ideas that this weekend encouraged was the idea of leaving a legacy. I think that it’s easy to over-look the importance of leaving a legacy. However it’s one of the noblest things that I can think of to do.
Look at the families that grow in mediocrity, not just spiritually but also emotionally, mentally, and financially. Most of us can especially look at our own families that we grew up in and see some things that we wished we’d grown up with. Does that mean that our families were failures? Absolutely not, but it means that once we can see those mistakes we can improve on them.
There are a couple of things that we’ve looked that that we would like our children to be able to grow up with. Well, actually more than a couple.

Spiritual Heritage
Salvation
Biblical Knowledge/morals/ethics
Doctrinal foundation
Ethics/Character

Finances
The concepts of Building wealth
Inheritance when WE die
College paid for

Socially
Be able to relate well with all ages
Be confident and composed
Stylish in how they look and speak
Able to step outside “the norms”
Never let anyone look down on them
Yet be a servant enough to serve (warrior servant)
Confident in their sexuality (a real man and a real woman)

Mentally/ Emotionally
Able to Handle stress
Able to focus and concentrate
Able to learn quickly
Smart and capable
Organized
Emotionally stable and thoughtful of others

Attitudes
Charismatic and able to lead
Gentle and humble- able to follow
Optimistic but tempered with reality
Brave, Able to work through fears

High expectations right? Is it possible for a parent to set the bar too high? I think that the important thing to remember is that the children follow the parents’ leadership. As A parent we first need to become what we want our children to be… that sets our own bar high and it gives us a personal reason to set our personal expectations higher… to build a legacy…
If we use our own lives, we have maybe… 50 more years to be active if the Lord blesses us? If we leverage our lives and raise great children… they will raise great children as well and so on so forth… it leverages greatness into our family tree and it leaves a legacy that will reach far beyond my own lifetime…
